my teams topic

My teams topics are integrity and game based learning. I think game based learnig is very importand and i will talk about that most. Game based learning is great in so many ways. This type of learning allows kids to get away from a pen, piece of paper, and a lectuer, and do something hands on. Its always good to swith things up and it adds fun and a different environment in the classroom. The horizon report says that children learn best when the game is goal oriented. Almost every kid, no matter what age is competitive. no matter what it is, you know that kid is will to do anything to win. Studies say that kids tend to try harder if the game is goal oriented. Also to go with games, kids tend to like in groups. this can help with communication skills. they must all work together to come up with an awnser. To go with this is integrity, integrity to me is having courage, to be honest, and to stand up for what you believe in to matter what. This can go with game based learning because in every group there must be a leader. if a kid has intregrity, he is more likely to take charge and be a good standout student. These two are different, but can go together very well

wikis as communication

Communication has came a along way at a very rapid pace. Everything is getting more and more advanced. There are alot of unnessecary communication tools out there, but some can be very useful if used properly. wikispaces launched in 2005 and has been booming eversince. it started off as a communication source or informational site for groups or individuals of all ages. wikispaces allows everyone in a group to share information and anyone in the group can view it and even edit it. Wikispaces are a huge hit in schools. They allow teachers to be very organized with there students and edit work if needed. I enjoy wikispaces in the classroom for numerous reasons. first off it is is great for me to post information that all my classmates can see. second off if there is any corrections that need to be made my teacher can edit it on the spot. Lastly everyone can be on and be working at the same time. In conclusion i throughly enjoy wikis. they are a great mode of communicataion and will be for a very long time. schools everywhere are hoping on the wikispaces ban wagon. there is nothing not to like about it. it has really helped me out in my years of high school.

Accepting Criticism

Accepting criticism is very important. No matter if you think that you are right all the time, your wrong. You will never be right one hundred percent all the time. you might get something right, but lots of times you need to go into further detail. If you accept criticism the wrong way you could become mad or hurt. People arent trying to hurt you or tell you that you are wrong. They are trying to help you improve what you are doing. At first I took criticism the wrong. I always thought someone was telling me what to do and saying I was wrong. The more I thought about it I realized that they were just trying to help. If someone gives me advice I tend to take it and consider it. An outsider’s point of view is sometimes good. Your terms of good and someone else’s could be completely different. I don’t even consider it criticism; I consider it help or advice. Now I really like it and accept it when people critisice me. I feel like it makes me and whatever I am doing better. I have came a long way and am very glad can now accept criticism.

meeting deadlines

The importance of meeting deadlines is second to none.  Meeting deadlines could make you or break you in the business world.  It starts with just being on time in general.  No one trusts a guy who is late and never on time.  It carries over to things like deadlines.  If you mess up once you could be fired.  You wont get many opportunities if you constantly are late on things.  Even young kids learn to turn turn in homework assignments on time or their grade will go down.  If anything, spend some extra time to turn it in early and not even flirt with something being late.  Procrastination is a bad thing.  Everyone does it but you need to pull together and get it done.  You feel so much better about yourself once you get it done.  Its so easy to put it off until later, but if you dont get it done there might be very severe consequences.  Meeting deadlines is one of the most, if not the most important thing to do in the business and educational world.  I take this very seriously because i know the importance of it. Meeting deadlines is the most important thing to do.

Twitter

Twitter is a social networking tool that is open to everyone.  Many people often tweet about what they are doing.  A tweet is a 250 character post about what you are doing or something you might do.  Many celebrities tweet.  First you get an account with a user name.  Then you can search peoples user names and follow them.  you can get an update every time that person sweets.  I could use digital communication to present twitter by using a power point or a Google document.  Twitter is pretty self explanatory.  I don't have a twitter account but i could show people how to use it.  By using a power point or a google document i could highlight the need to know points and talk about the other stuff.  Twitter is fun for all ages and is very simple to use.  Also i could use you tube to get a how to video.  Lastly i could video record a speech on how to use twitter and show it to the class.  In conclusion twitter is an great social networking tool.  everyone can use it and it is free.  There is nothing not to like.  Twitter is a great tool to use.

Diigo

Diigo is a great tool to use on the web.  On Diigo you can highlight, bookmark, add a sticky note, and create endless documents.  This is very handy if you need to create something or add a quick note.  Also you can highlight important information.  If the information is highlighted yo can go back to something and it is very easy to find, you don't have to search for a long time for that one sentence you  need.  Diigo is a very productive and useful tool.  It helps with organization and help you find information.  Diigo is a great tool for students and workers around the world.
